“The Future of Pediatrics” — experience of conducting an International Olympiad at the Saint Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University

Abstract

The Student Olympiad in Pediatrics at the Saint Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University (SPb SPMU) was first held in 2011, and since 2014, it has been an All-Russian Olympiad, started since 2019 an All-Russian Olympiad in Pediatrics with International Participation. This event allows students to demonstrate their erudition, determine their attitude towards their future profession, and showcase their knowledge and manual skills in providing emergency and urgent pediatric care. It also provides an opportunity for students to gain experience in teamwork, which can positively impact their motivation to further enhance their knowledge and skills in pediatric medicine. Leading experts in the field of pediatrics, evaluating the work of novice pediatricians, identify promising students who will have to make their worthy contribution to the development of modern children’s healthcare in future.In the year of the university’s 100th anniversary, on November 20–21, 2025, the X All-Russian Olympiad of Students in Pediatrics with international participation “The Future of Pediatrics” was held, bringing together teams of the best students of pediatric faculties in Russia and neighboring countries. A record number of 42 university teams gathered for the celebration of the “Future of Pediatrics” — 2025.The article was to presents the history of the development and establishment of the International Pediatric Olympiad at the oldest pediatric university in Russia, the St. Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University of the Russian Ministry of Health.
