Abstract

The Saint Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University (SPbSPMU) is a leading educational and scientific institution of the Russian Federation, playing a key role in the implementation of state programs for the development of healthcare at the federal and regional levels. The structure of the university includes the National Medical Research Center (NMIC) in pediatrics, which coordinates scientific, methodological and organizational activities in the Northwestern, Ural and Siberian Federal Districts. Since 2019 within the framework of the “University-region” project the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education “Saint Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University” of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, together with the Ministry of Health of the Novgorod Region, has been implementing a comprehensive program aimed at solving key problems of regional healthcare in the Novgorod Region, such as reducing mortality rates caused by socially significant diseases and eliminating personnel shortage. This article covers the results of the joint work of the St. Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University and the Ministry of Health of the Novgorod Region, carried out within the framework of the strategic project “University-region”. The main tools in solving the tasks were training and attraction of personnel to the region, advanced training of medical workers, organizational and methodological assistance in improving the system of routing and medical examination of patients, scientific and practical work (holding conferences, seminars and introducing new medical technologies). The result of the joint efforts of the St. Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University and the Ministry of Health of the Novgorod Region was a decrease in overall mortality in the region by 7,6%.
